Cleanroom Production Technician

Build precision optical and photonic assemblies in a controlled environment, to a written standard, every time. Technicians here are trained on the instruments rather than only on the procedure, and the progression path into process engineering is real.

— The work

What the role is responsible for.

  • Assemble, align, and test precision optical and photonic components to specification.
  • Maintain cleanroom protocol and contamination control without exception.
  • Record production data accurately and flag drift early.
  • Perform first-line maintenance and calibration checks on production equipment.
  • Contribute observations to process improvement — the floor is the best source of them.
— Required

What we need you to bring.

  • Technical qualification in a relevant trade or science discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Manual precision and the patience that goes with it.
  • Ability to follow and to accurately record against written procedure.
  • Comfort with cleanroom garment and protocol requirements.
  • Working Japanese or English; training is available in both.
— Preferred

Useful, not essential.

  • Prior cleanroom, semiconductor, or optical assembly experience.
  • Familiarity with interferometry or optical metrology.
  • Experience working to a formal quality system.

We read the preferred list as a description of a useful background, not a checklist. Candidates who meet the required list and none of the preferred are regularly hired.

— The team

Who you would be joining.

The Tsukuba production floor sits alongside the Advanced Research fabrication line, which means technicians see prototype and production work in the same building.

— Conditions

What to know before you apply.

Shift pattern is published in advance. Structured progression into process technician and process engineering roles is documented at offer.

All candidates undergo comprehensive vetting. Reasonable accommodation is available at any stage — say so in your first note and it will be arranged. We do not use unverified third-party recruiters, and we never ask a candidate for a fee.
